RT Guests on new Blind Boys of Alabama CD
9/1/2003 (updated 9/1/2003)

GO TELL IT ON THE MOUNTAIN’
The Blind Boys’ first-ever holiday album
Release Date: September 16, 2003
on REALWORLD RECORDS

The album features extraordinary special guests, including Tom Waits on the title track, Chrissie Hynde on In the Bleak Midwinter (featuring Richard Thompson on guitar), Aaron Neville on Joy to the World, Shelby Lynne on The Christmas Song, Michael Franti (Spearhead) on an amazing version of Little Drummer Boy, and Les McCann on White Christmas -- plus soul, gospel, and funk legends Solomon Burke, Mavis Staples, and George Clinton.

The band consists of John Medeski, Duke Robillard, and Richard Thompson band alumni Danny Thompson and Michael Jerome, with additional guest appearances by Robert Randolph. And, of course, great performances by the Blind Boys themselves, still going strong in their 70s.

Says Danny Thompson:“It was a great time recording this, especially to be back with Michael, he is a truly innovative player, and more importantly.....great bloke!
