The long-awaited RICHARD THOMPSON SONGBOOK is now in production! Exact release date to be advised, probably November 2009.

It will be a work of art, worth the wait.

UPDATE - UPDATE - UPDATE

May 9th, 2009

Apologies to all those waiting, but we're trying to do it right. After various setbacks, some self-inflicted, we look like having it ready for October 09. I know this is a long way off, and it's taken years, and I won't bore you with the details, but I now think this date is realistic.

Maartin Allcock, formerly of Fairport Convention and Jethro Tull, has been hired
to transcribe a three volume songbook of Richard Thompson songs. The volumes
will contain a total of 150 songs, arranged alphabetically, with extensive TAB and guitar tunings. The first volume, A-H, begins with 1952 Vincent Black Lightning and ends with How Many Times.

"This is a great honour for me as I've been a fan most of my life...."
-Maartin, February 19, 2006

UPDATE: Maart has finished transcribing Volume One of the three volume
Richard Thompson Songbook, which will be available through Beesweb Merchandise and elsewhere. Maart is awaiting Richard's proofreading and corrections and work on Volume Two has already begun.

"I’m just proofing it –Volume One could be ready for Christmas. Maart is well through Volume Two already."
-Richard Thompson, August 22, 2006

Maart contributes:
I've finished transcribing Volume Two of the Richard Thompson Songbook now and Richard has it for proofreading and corrections. I've started on volume 3 now...

Richard Thompson's
rigorous tour schedule, and studio work (recording a new band album!) has prevented further progress on the 3 volume songbook. Richard's management is in the process of selecting a publisher. Look for an update during the Spring of 2007.

October 5th, 2008
Richard states, "Songbooks are being designed, and I think we’ll have a great package. Once this is done, we can release fairly quickly."

Q. When is the songbook coming out? It seems like it is taking forever? Will Sweet Warrior meet it to market? Regards, Joseph Ballerini, Stamford, CT

A. Sorry it’s so slow, but we want to get it right. Current reasons for delay are: we changed our minds about sequencing the songs, and are now going to do it chronologically rather than alphabetically. This makes adding updates and addenda much easier, and will use less pages, and we are hoping to use a ring binder system to facilitate this. Also, our designers have been exceptionally busy lately, among other things working on another project for us, so that’s also slowed us down a bit.
