"Guitar God" (NY Daily News) Richard Thompson
Descends on NYC for Celebrate Brooklyn! Show June 21

*New Album 'Sweet Warrior Out Now
(Shout! Factory)

Legendary singer/songwriter/guitarist Richard Thompson will play an exclusive NYC date in support of his outstanding new album 'Sweet Warrior' on June 21 at the Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival in Prospect Park. The concert will feature a good number of cuts from the new album alongside material culled from 40 years worth of Fairport Convention, Richard & Linda Thompson, and Richard Thompson records, and likely the odd unrecorded song or two. He'll be joined by Danny Thompson (no relation) on bass, Michael Jerome on drums and percussion, and Pete Zorn on guitar, mandolin, saxes, etc.

Thompson's new CD has earned rave reviews; The NY Daily News' Jim Farber declares that it upholds the "lofty standards" of "one of the best songwriters of the classic rock era" and "one of its most criminally underrecognized guitar gods"(5/20/07), while Harp Magazine confirms that Sweet Warrior "ranks with his finest. Deftly drawn sketches of assorted losers, dreamers, and wayward romantics yield subtle nuances, sly jabs, and warm corners with each new listen" (June 07).
