RTB Live - LATER...with Jools Holland

Later With Jools Holland BBC2
11.35pm, 9 November

Crowded House, Richard Thompson, Battles, Kurt Elling, Sir Michael of His Eternal Stipefulness and Anton Corbijn join old Jools round the joanna. Crowded House perform numbers from their Time on Earth album, the venerable band's first set of new songs since re-forming after a 10-year gap. After a 40-year career that has seen him at the vanguard of the British folk-rock boom with Fairport Convention, and working with Nick Drake and John Martyn, Richard Thompson plays tunes from his recent Sweet Warrior album. Battles are a New York-based group whose line-up features guitar and keyboards whiz Tyondai Braxton, son of avant-garde jazzer Anthony Braxton. American vocalist Kurt Elling performs a track or two from his latest album, Nightmoves, while His Royal Rock Highness King Stipe-o keeps us up to date with REM's manoeuvres. In addition, well-kent photographer and emergent film director Anton Corbijn submits to a light Joolsian grilling about his current movie, Control, and Joy Division in general.
