The Save Darfur Coalition's mission is to raise public awareness about the ongoing genocide in Darfur and to mobilize a unified response to the atrocities that threaten the lives of two million people in the Darfur region of Sudan.

Says Thompson, "The conflict in Darfur is a complicated one. Many different factors contribute to the grief and bloodshed that is ongoing in the region. Religious differences, abundant oil, as well as military and government corruption have produced one of the worst human rights atrocities in memory. Hundreds of thousands of men, women and children have been raped, tortured and murdered. Unimaginable terror. This concert is contribution to help the wonderful charity SaveDarfur in providing aid to the Darfuri people. All of the artists are donating their time and talent and we hope that people will come to see this great show and, by doing so, help to end the suffering in Darfur.
